Whether you’re an IT leader or manager representing an organisation or an employee in the IT sector, it goes without saying that achieving significant success in the software development business requires you to keep learning, which calls for a learning solution that’s quick, specific and effective. Why, because IT is a lucrative industry that evolves at a pace much faster than many other industries and new technologies are being invented and new knowledge built leaving so much to learn on continually. Also, it’s the IT industry that invents revolutionary solutions that help unleash explosive growth in the other industries. Red Hat Learning Subscription (RHLS), offered by Red Hat Training and Certification, is a powerful learning solution that provides on-demand access to help you quickly learn Red Hat technologies.

Key Features of Red Hat Learning Subscription
The early access content feature gives subscribers exclusive access to course chapters and lab environments in development before they are released for public purchase. All early access content is available in all subscriptions and allows users to provide feedback on the material. Once the courses and labs are completed, they will be added to the full catalogue in the subscription.
This means, by the time these technologies are officially released, you’d already be fairly familiar with it, which will give you a definite advantage over those who opt to study it then. Plus, you can figure out the applications of Red Hat technologies in development for your business or industry beforehand and make a good head start.
Access the same labs as in the classroom for hands-on practice in authentic Red Hat environments, delivered 24x7 on six continents. This means going for a Red Hat Learning Subscription will still allow you the same knowledge and the exposure by doing the practicals as you’d do in the classroom.
Importantly, users are limited to 400 hours of lab usage per subscription period for standard and basic subscriptions and 100 hours of lab usage per developer subscription. This limited lab time is consumed when one or more of the lab machines in a lab environment are running. When all machines are stopped, the lab environment is no longer consuming lab time. Lab consumption is measured in hours, rounded up to the nearest whole hour and is tracked in the dashboard.
Map your learning and certification goals to one of the skills paths inside the platform to develop a strong foundation for a specific skill set. Since Red Hat has defined clear training paths to pick up specific skill sets that will help you become an expert in your chosen field of study, RHLS too helps you build your expertise.
The different Red Hat skill paths you can take are as follows.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer
- Red Hat JBoss EAP
- Red Hat Fuse, Decision Manager, and more
- Red Hat Cloud Computing
- Red Hat OpenStack
- Red Hat OpenShift
- Red Hat Ansible
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
For an individual, this clearly enhances his or her career growth and advancement prospects. For an organisation, this is a surefire tool to acquire expertise in particular niches for building their business further.
Validate your skills through performance-based exams via some tiers. Whether remotely or at a testing station, exams can be taken when and where it's most convenient. Certification exams are not included, however, in the basic tier of Red Hat Learning Subscription. Subscribers of the standard tier can take up to five exams and can retake two exams within the subscription period of one year. The developer subscription includes three total exam attempts to pass developer exams. The three attempts include exam attempts and retakes.
Expert extras are on-demand, high-definition videos offered as part of the standard tier of Red Hat Learning Subscription to complement course content. These expert extras are not scheduled and are available on demand at any time within the subscription term. These videos of 8 to 15 minutes are presented by Red Hat expert practitioners as demonstrations of innovative technologies and practices, based on real-world use cases and scenarios. These videos have a broad appeal to anyone involved with IT.
Expert chat allows standard subscribers to have a one-on-one conversation with a certified instructor about topics covered in the course portfolio. Expert chat sessions are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the user’s time zone. Users are allowed one session per day, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes per session.
Expert chat is offered in English and with machine translations in: International Spanish, Brazilian, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
Download up to 10 course eBooks (in PDF format) to continue learning offline. This is also pretty useful for refreshing your knowledge at work or for further studies even after your RHLS subscription has expired. While the standard subscription allows you to take five exams, you can practically get PDF-formatted eBooks for 10 Red Hat courses, which helps you build your knowledge and expertise further. Plus, all three subscription tiers for both individuals and enterprises allow you to download 10 eBooks.
An individual’s dashboard provides a summary of training progress, course, and lab usage as well as the exam status. Management reports provide the same metrics so the enterprise can measure their team’s engagement and progress. More specifically, management reports include team member course progress, lab hours used, exam status, hours spent within the Red Hat Learning Subscription platform, and the last login date. Reports can also be exported to PDF.
Access Red Hat’s most popular courses in as many as 11 languages: English, International Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese, Hindi, and Czech. Course translations depend on training modality and course demand, however.
Aside from that, all 40 video classrooms are captioned with machine translations. Translations are included for Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Red Hat Online Learning content is not captioned, but some courses are available in some of these languages: International Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
