"Red Hat Challenge 2013" to be Launched with More Than 3,400 Participants in the Asia Pacific Region.

Red Hat Challenge, a knowledge-based technology competition is a regional technology competition involving Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, network administration, and security administration and virtualization tasks. With the theme of, “Building the Next Cloud Generation” this year, the competition mainly focuses on the contestants' skills and knowledge in cloud computing, operating systems and virtualization. More than 3,400 students from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan have signed up for this, since the launch of the competition in September.

According to Sachin Shridhar, director, Services, Red Hat Asia Pacific the number of participants has more than doubled compared to the previous year and there is a noticeable growth in the participation of tertiary institution students.

He also said that cloud computing continues to grow significantly in Asia Pacific and the rest of the world, and that Red Hat understands the importance of nurturing the next generation of IT professionals with the essential skills and expertise to meet real-world industry demands, and enabling them to become valuable members for the IT workforce."

The final stage of this year's Red Hat Challenge will be held in Beijing in December 2013 where the finalists will each be offered an internship opportunity with Red Hat as well as a certificate of participation. The grand prize winner will win a Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone, an internship opportunity with Red Hat, winner's trophy and certificate of participation.
