Soft skills are personal attributes that drive an individual's interactions, enhance job performance and brighten career prospects. Unlike hard skills, which are about a person's skill set and ability to perform a certain type of task or activity, soft skills are interpersonal and broadly applicable.
Simply defined, values are Important and lasting beliefs or ideals shared by the members of a culture about what is good or bad and desirable or undesirable. Values have major influence on a person's behavior and attitude and serve as broad guidelines in all situations. In an organization, values can also be seen in the nature of work ethics.
At PACE, we place high emphasis on inculcating soft skills and values in our students as a core part of our strategy to turn them into SMART Impactful Professionals.
The issue of lack of soft skills and how it affects workplace
As soft skills and values drive employee behavior, they form a significant part of one’s contribution to one’s organization. More importantly, they influence employer-employee relationship and hundreds of other interactions among the key stakeholders. Lack of soft skills is at the root of most problems that affect the workplace today.
The root of most problems in the workplace
De-motivation, theft, insubordination, unruly behavior, deception, conflicts and so on and so forth stem, largely but not solely, from the absence of soft skills and values. As a result of these, countless productive hours are wasted and plenty of other resources are squandered. Further, it spreads ill-will and a host of other negative emotions and creates a rather toxic environment in the workplace.
Professional training and education with soft skills & values
Communication, conflict resolution and negotiation, personal effectiveness, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, team building, persuasion, and selling skills remain the vital soft skills in the workplace and are instrumental to the organizational success. All our courses are laced with a carefully developed program to instill soft skills & values in our students. Additionally, we have developed separate courses to offer our students comprehensive coaching and guidance to develop their soft skills and values.
