It is no more a secret that Linux has made huge inroads into the corporate enterprises all over the world. Out of numerous types of Linux, Red Hat Linux has become dominant due to the ease of implementation & support for Linux-based systems. Red Hat Certification Programs offer professional qualifications for Red Hat products and general Linux-related skills such as system administration on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Red Hat Certified Engineer or RHCE is a certification you can earn to become a senior system administrator responsible for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Systems.
To become a RHCE professional, you must earn Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification. It is a two step approach:
Step 01: Earning Certification for Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
RHCSA certification is the preliminary requirement to become a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE). The RHCSA covers a range of Red Hat systems administration skills, including installation and configuration of the Linux operating system, maintaining different user account levels, stopping and starting virtual machines, setting up file storage & file system parameters, and managing security within the operating system.
Step 02: Becoming Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
Professionals who are holding the RHCSA certification are eligible to obtain the RHCE certification. It tests your knowledge, skills and ability required to become a senior system administrator for Red Hat Linux server environments.
Once you have the RHCE certification, it is valid for three years. The RHCE can be renewed by either achieving the Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), re-taking the RHCE test, or by taking additional specialization tests on particular subject areas such as virtualization or security.
Increasing adoption of Red Hat has made RHCE a hot commodity in the IT marketplace and RHCE certified professionals are among the best paid IT professionals in the industry.
